a

Hey I had a near death experience today (Well I don't know if this really counts.)  We were driving through the end of Florida when we decided to stop at a beach i was running along the waves, (swimming wasn't allowed because of riptide warnings,) collecting sea shells, (which I always do at the beach) and I stopped to pick up what looked like a shiny cleary-blue rock, but when i bent down to touch it it was all squishy and slipped out of my hand. Being the girl that I am, I ran away screaming. When my dad asked what was wrong (half laughing) i said 'Something is all squishy and gooey over there!' he walked over and confirmed what I had been thinking: it was a jelly fish. Now mind you i only touched the top of the jelly fish, you know, the part that doesn't sting you, because that was the only visible part because it was buried in the sand. My dad walked over to a nearby lifeguard and told him about it. When the life guard asked what color it was my dad said bluey-purple, and the life guard said it was probably a Portuguese Man of War. For those of you who don't know, A Portuguese Man of War isn't even a jelly fish. A Portuguese Man of War's tenticals can get up to about 165 feet down into the water, and even when it is dead (like ours was) it can still give a sting. Anyway if i had touched one of the stingers I probably would be in intensive care right now :(

OK so today is what the 25? And we're heading to New Orleans. Yesterday we went to Busch Gardens which is an amusement park / zoo. It was so cool!!! We saw alligators elephants and even a cute baby cheeta cub; the roller costers were pretty awesome too. I can't wait to get home and by the way I forgot to say that I bought some gross jelly beans at Harry potter that I want to try out on my class. Mwahhahahahaa :P. Mrs Gillis if you see this don't tell the class I want it to be a surprise for Brandon, i think he'll lose his taste for candy after this :P

Now we're in Tennesse and today we went to the country music hall of fame, it was really interesting, I saw displays for Brooks and Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Reba Macintire, Wynonna, Johnny Cash, and many others. After that was went to studio B the last surviving studio where many famous people recorded like Dolley Parton, Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves, the Everly Brother, and the only black man, Charley Pride. Tomorrow we are owing to the Parthadon!!! I cant wait!!!!

Ok so we're in Graceland Memphis home of the biggest man in Rock n' Roll; Mr. Elvis Presley. We went on a tour of the house, and it was amazing. You started at a bus station with 2 restaurants, 3 tiny museums, and 3 gift shops. Then you took a shuttle bus to the house and they gave us all audio tours to listen to. We walked through the living room, dining room, kitchen, yard, racket ball room, and another tiny museum full of his clothes, records, and tv's showing all his television debuts; it even showed his and his wife's Percilla's wedding outfits. Outside the house in the garden was the graves of Vernon Presley, his wife, Minnie Presley (the grama) and of course Elvis himself; there was even a little plaque commemorating Elvis's stillborn twin brother Jessie. Afterwards we went to get something to eat at one of the restaurants, and we chose the one which had a 60d's theme, and on the menu there was a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. (apparently a Elvis favorite) before we left we took a short tour of Elvis's plane the Lisa Marie (named after his only child/daughter) the plane cost him $20,000 but all of his alterations to it cost him $80,000. One of the times of when he used it was when he realized his daughter had never seen snow so the family hoped on board and flew to Clorado; Lisa Marie played in the snow for a little while then they hoped on NORAD again and headed home. Well that's all for now, Thank ya uh Thank ya very much. Btw Elvis's signature logo was TCB, which stands for Taking Care of Business, then it had a  under it.

Monday 11 April 2011

OK so we're stranded in Missouri because our moterhome broke down, and we're staying in a best western. It's our 3rd day here, (I just sorta forgot to blog) my dad got the moterhome fixed today, and we're going to leave tomorrow. So far there's been a tornado warning 15 miles away from us, and a warning for flash floods and major thunder storms in where we have to go next, oh joy. Anyway, my two dogs that came with us (a Chihuahua and Yorkie) are lovin' the hotel life, my yorkie was running up and down the hallway :P and I gotta say, I don't mind it too much either.

Friday 8 April 2011

Ok so now we're in Nebraska, and it's cold wet and foggy. But on the bright side yesterday we went to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse; for those of you who don't know what Crazy Horse is, it's this huge carving a an indian cheif and his horse on the side of a black hills mountain. Although it isn't finished yet, (all they have is his head and the outline of the horse) when it is finished they could fit all of the Mt. Rushmore heads into his head! Both of the mountains had a tiny museum full of artifacts, and both had a tin video to tell you about them. Mt. Rushmore was started by a sculptor named Gutzon Borglum, but after he died his son took over the job. Crazy Horse was started by a man named Korchik, and after he died his wife and 7 of his 10 kids took over. Over all I have to say I liked Crazy Horse the best because I got to see it before it was finished and because the movie actually had Korchik talking in it, and because the museum was much much larger. So now we're on a long highway and it's raining; I can't wait till we get to Florida! None if us really think much about Nebraska.

Wednesday 6 April 2011

We just left Montana so we're in Wyoming now, but while we were in Montana we stopped by Little BigHorn Battlefeild or Custer's last stand. It was very interesting and full of history. A cool fact that I found out was where the term "bury the hatchet" came from, it was because a Indian cheif, and a American general (both of whomever I've forgotten the names of) came together and buried a hatchet, to symbolizes peace. The hatchet was only ever brought out again on time of war. And now we're cruising through Wyoming famous for cattle herding; on our was to Mt. Rushmore.

Tuesday 5 April 2011

Howedy, we're in montana now, which is famous for it's huge skies and it' mines. I also learned that Helena the Capitol of Montana since 1875, owes it's existence to four discouraged prospectors who, in 1864, stumbled apron a gully which they dubbed "Last Chance Gulch" and decided to dig. Their "last chance" uncovered gold in what is now Helena's main street. While I've been in montana, I've seen letters on the mountains so far we've seen S, F, L, and D; we don't know what they mean, but we are going to try and find out. Also when we first came into the state there were so many trees, but the farther in we got, the less trees there was. Oh and one more thing, don't try to steal a farmer's cow or horse, or he'll shoot ya. ;)
