little blackfoot memorial

Ok so now we're in Nebraska, and it's cold wet and foggy. But on the bright side yesterday we went to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse; for those of you who don't know what Crazy Horse is, it's this huge carving a an indian cheif and his horse on the side of a black hills mountain. Although it isn't finished yet, (all they have is his head and the outline of the horse) when it is finished they could fit all of the Mt. Rushmore heads into his head! Both of the mountains had a tiny museum full of artifacts, and both had a tin video to tell you about them. Mt. Rushmore was started by a sculptor named Gutzon Borglum, but after he died his son took over the job. Crazy Horse was started by a man named Korchik, and after he died his wife and 7 of his 10 kids took over. Over all I have to say I liked Crazy Horse the best because I got to see it before it was finished and because the movie actually had Korchik talking in it, and because the museum was much much larger. So now we're on a long highway and it's raining; I can't wait till we get to Florida! None if us really think much about Nebraska.

By the way it was not Crazy Horse who asked Korchik to do the sculpture it was another cheif named Standing Bear; Crazy Horse died on September 6, and Korchik was born on the same day 30 years later. Crazy Horse was stabbed in the back by a solider at the peace treaty of the Little Bighorn Battle (in which he fought)
